When I meet other Dom/mes, I look for:

That’s it. The rest comes naturally./
I want a dominant woman who is just a little bit stronger than me and isn’t afraid to demonstrate it, but at the same time, gently and subtly dominant. She likes to remind me of her strength now and then, with a smile. She takes control of all my savings and loves to remind me about that… how I would be penniless without her. She gives me an allowance each week, which I must account for, in detail. She only lets me ‘make love’ when she’s on top and she always makes me ‘clean up’ afterwards, with my tongue, which she seems to quite enjoy. But I do love her and adore her and she knows it. She uses the threat of revealing my submissive nature to my friends to keep me under her control. If I make any mistake at all I will be punished. And so life goes on. When we’re out together she’s always smiling, knowing how much I’m trembling inside, afraid to make any mistake, in fear of the punishment that will surely be given when we get home.. I’m always watching her, seeking her approval of my behaviour.
If ONLY I could find such a woman…
This is an easy one for me:
Integrity - She has a set of values and sticks with them. I might not agree with the values (in which case we will probably not get along, but I can at least respect her).
Confidence - very sexy - if she really believes in herself, then she is not easily threatened, can “take the hits” and enjoy being herself.
Intelligence - not to be confused with education.
A good sense of humor - if you haven’t laughed during a session, you’re missing a lot of fun :-).
Physical appearance is not important. If I like a woman, I like looking at her no matter what she “really” looks like.
Shared fetishes are nice but as long as we are both willing to explore each other’s fetishes (without commitment to actually adopting them), then that’s enough. If all the other attributes are in place, then we should find enough common ground to have fun.
Cruelty? Not my style. Loving? Most definitely.
I believe in “equal but dominant.” We are equal partners in the relationship. She just happens to have a dominant role. She leads, I follow.
