Hubby?
Not a very deep question to be honest. But I’ve been wondering about this on and off shortly after discovering the female led relationships subculture.
There’s a word I don’t recall my parents or their peers using. None of my married friends have ever employed the term.
The word is hubby. And I’d swear that I’ve seen it used in female led writings and blogs over and over again.
I’m not saying this is a wicked thing. Just curious as to why?

Your experience is different than mine. I’ve heard the term used all my life and it is/was used as a term of endearment. Maybe it’s an older term.
Maybe its familiarity is what makes it suitable for female domination. It is a diminutive form of husband — a pet name. People give diminutive names to children — mostly by adding an “ie” or “y” sound. William is Bill, but as a boy Billy and as a girl Billie.
It’s a little Biblical maybe. In Genesis, God said that man had dominion over the animals and then said, “Hey Adam, why don’t you give them all a name.” To give a name to something is to own it.
Then of course — and I think this is the main reason for using it in female dominated literature — is it rhyming nature with “subbie.”
I’ve heard “hubby” all my life too, not just in FLR stuff.
To me the word is strictly something from pop culture artifacts like the Blondie comic strip or TV sitcoms. But I’ll take your word that real flesh and blood people use it.
the comment should have read: Although my wife doesn’t use the term, I prefer to think of myself as her ‘hubette’.
I never heard “hubby” used before and thought that I had come up with it on my own when I began using it in response to my vanilla husband calling me Wifey.
Hubby first came into general parlance in the 50’s.It just meant another way of saying husband. It denoted familiarity and freindship that the Womyn was at ease with her man.I think in a Female Led enviroment it is used quite rightly as a diminuative. So you could say it is used to reduce a males ego.
In a society trying to get away from Womyn finding true happiness only through their husbands or partners as a default position to make light of the male in a marriage is a very healthy thing in my opinion.
Hubby is just a general term an abbriviation of husband. Has nothing specific to do with bDSM or femdom.
