Marvel Comics martial artist heroes re-imagined as women. Something that I thought might appeal to fans of strong women.
Much to my surprise (I sell comic books for a living) female heroes have never proven nearly as popular with teenage boys and young men. They can only enjoy heroes with which they identify in some fairly literal sense I guess.
By John Byrne, arguably the most popular super-hero artist if the 1980s.
