For some people, it’s just about sensation; for them, anyone will do. But like any other relationship, if it’s more than just sensation, then there’s got to be some physical and emotional chemistry.

“It’s all about sensation” or “you have to have chemistry” are not the only two options. Some people, myself included, find it pretty easy to develop chemistry with almost anyone we really like on a personality level. I might not find a certain guy hot or good-looking if I saw him on the street, but if I meet him at the club and get to know him a little bit, he might totally rock my world.

I’m not trying to make anyone defensive - just sayin’.

There are always going to be purists in almost everything including BDSM.

I suspect age may be a factor in this as well and older men much more likely to focus on the role and interaction independently of the surface qualities of the woman.

The fallback excuse as to why I don’t have a partner is “Oh you’re too picky”.

If I, as a submissive man, say “I want a partner who I find attractive physically and mentally”, then it’s assumed that I want a barbie-doll.

If you say that to a ‘nilla person they’ll say “well…duh”.

Yes, I want to be attracted to whomever I submit to, I know it limits my options obviously but how many Dommes would want to dominate a guy they weren’t attracted to?

I place the same amount of importance on looks as most ‘nillafolk. There’s got to be some physical attraction there, but I realize I’m not going to end up with a supermodel. But beauty is one of those things that’s hard to pin down, so it’s very fluid.
