Now that is a pretty horrific image of motherhood isn’t it? Puts me in mind of the character who wanted to Train Male Children to Be Submissive.
I wonder if his mother really did that to him. I have known of children who were subjected to just plain awful treatment by the ostensibly gentler and more nurturing sex.

Children are taught about God, even though there may not even be one, they are taught about respect for the law, they are taught about how good democracy is, why shouldn’t a family who believe in a hierarchical structure that is lead by the woman of the family not teach their children that this is their chosen set of values?
Parent’s need to be authoritative and its quite possible that a single mother could be percieved as dominant as a consequance. Most importantly being a submissive man is being a real man… manhood is not about dominance over women, its about meeting your biological imperatives in a logical and compassionate manner, ie female supremacy
